I obtained my first counselling qualification in South Africa and have been involved with Counselling / Psychotherapy and Life Coaching since then. My training includes CBT, hypno-therapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic programming) type therapy which was done in America, where I worked as a Life coach and used my counselling skills where appropriate. I have also been trained in EMDR – recognised as being the most effective approach to alleviate trauma (See http://www.emdrassociation.org.uk)
Other studies include Trauma therapy which I have practised both in the UK and South Africa.
In 2008 I completed my PG Dip in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and presently have completed most of my MA in Psychosynthesis.
I worked for MIND as a counsellor from 2006 – 2104, been in private practice for many years and also work three days a week using short term therapy for a large employee assistance company.
As part of the BACP framework I participate in continuing professional development, the latest being in EMDR which is extremely effective in dealing with trauma issues.
I have also had extensive therapy myself as this is a prerequisite to many psychotherapy models. How could one expect to know the depth of another’s issues when one doesn’t know one’s own?
I am also extremely passionate about helping parents understand their infants better and do lectures and webinars to help increase their knowledge. You can watch a short video in this regard on www.whatmakesyoutick.org
